It was recently reported that 500,000 people were infected with HIV/AIDS in the year 2003. Condom sales in the year under review reached record heights. One does not need to be a statistician to identify a strong positive correlation between condom sales and rate of infection. As the sale of condom increases, the infection rate increases as well. Condoms are therefore never a full proof protection against HIV/AIDS infection. Despite this obvious fact, people still consider the so-called 'protected sex ' as an option in the battle against the pandemic. The claim that condoms are for the youth who cannot abstain, to me, is neither here nor there. What at all is meant by not being able to abstain? Every guy or girl will feel like having sex at appoint in time is pure animal instinct we all have. It is the ability to resist the urge that makes us human. By implication, therefore we cease to being human the very time we buy into the idea that we cannot say no to pre-marital sex. It is interesting to know that it is only human beings who have this problem. This is because we are the only ones who consider sex to be fun. Other animals that we claim to be superior to, only mate for the purposes of procreation.
We need to realize that promoters of condoms do not want the eradication of HIV/AIDS. The continuous existence of the disease is very important to the survival of their industry. The issue of the safety of condoms is still being debated among experts. Time and again they have indicated that condoms are not 100% safe against HIV and the virus that cause AIDS. There are a strong percentage of cases where condoms, properly worn are have failed to do anything in the line of protection. Do wish to be the mere statistics of the percentage that failed? Whoever lied to us that, it is natural for the unmarried to have sex really did us a lot of damage. Not being able to abstain is not okay. It shows we lack self-control and are less human than we claim to be. LOVE AND AFFECTION IS THE ANSWER, NOT LUST AND INFECTION. |
